TEGERNSEE VALLEY

Welcome at a very special place

If there is a place in the world where things are still the way they should be, then it is in the Tegernsee valley. Here cattle graze on lush green meadows under the blue and white sky by one of the cleanest lakes in Bavaria. Here traditions are maintained and traditional costumes worn with pride. This is where there is much to celebrate and plenty to do all year round. And this is where people really appreciate the good and honest. Whether from person to person or hand- and homemade.

History

135 years of hospitality and highest hotel culture

"Überfahrt" - a name that stands for more than 135 years of hospitality and highest hotel culture. Josef Höß founded the "Gasthof zur Überfahrt" on the banks of the lake Tegernsee in 1837. The ferryman gave the "Überfahrt" (crossing) its name, which retains an important meaning to this day. Still today, a traditional Bavarian oarsman docks at the hotel´s landing stage and brings guests to the banks of the Egerner Bucht on a daily basis. Even then, the guest list of the "Gasthof zur Überfahrt" was studded with celebrities: Ludwig Thoma, Leo Slezak, Prince Rainier of Monaco and many other spent countless recreative days here.
